Appliance Installation

Your 1960s Northridge Tract Home Was Never Wired for a New Range or Dryer — Here's the Fix

Twice this summer I’ve shown up to install a customer’s new range, opened the panel to run power, and had to tell them the job was stopping right there. Not because anything I sell is broken — because the house is. Both times it was the same story: a ranch home off Zelzah or Balboa, built somewhere around 1958-1963, still running on the original 100-amp service with a Zinsco or Federal Pacific panel that has never been touched since Eisenhower was president.
